A Get Wrecked week on Whirlwind, Egypt April 2009
After showing our passports and visas for what seemed like a million times, we finally got ourselves aboard MY Whirlwind in the harbour at Sharm El Sheikh.
Awoke to the sound of engines as we set sail for Sha'ab El Utat for our shakedown dive, then onto Sha'ab Abu Nuhas for the rest of the day's diving. Second dive was Kimon M and third dive Chrisoula K. Night dive was the reef under the boat.
Remained at Sha'ab Abu Nuhas and dived the Carnatic, followed by the Giannis D followed by another dive on the Chrisoula K and then moved to Gobal Island area and night dive on the Barge.
First two dives of the day were on the Rosalie Moller (didn't take camera, housing not depth rated that far!) then moved to the other side of Gobal Island for a fast drift on the Uylsses and another night dive on the Barge.
First dive on the Uylsses, second dive on the Barge, then relocated to Sha'ab Ali to do two dives on the Thistlegorm.
First two dives on the Thistlegorm, then moved to Shag Rock to dive the Kingston, followed by a reef dive for the night dive.
Moved to Sha'ab Mahmud and dived the first dive of the day on the Dunraven, then moved to Ras Mohammed National Park and dived Shark and Yolande Reefs for the second dive. Third and final dive had to be relocated to Sha'ab El Utat as the wind blew up losing us Jackfish Alley. We spent our last night out at sea.
We docked around 9am and offloaded into hotel in Sharm El Sheikh for a few hours before catching our plane home. Many thanks to Susie and Thomas (our guides) and the rest of the crew on the Whirlwind, plus all the great people who came with us on the Get Wrecked trip.
